Wivenhoe Nomads Football Team appeared directly after the Second World War and played in the local Minor Leagues. At one time they included Peter Aitchison in their side before he eventually went on to play for Colchester United. The Nomads enjoyed a fair degree of success beginning in 1944/45 when they won the Minor League Cup following a 2-0 victory over King George V Club. Reaching the Semi Finals of the Pelly Cup (where they lost 1-3 to Dagenham), the Nomads won the Minor League Cup again in 1947 before joining forces with Wivenhoe Rangers to become their new Reserve Team.
